Jacky Dickerson | Senior Director, The SouthShore Montessori School
Ms. Jacky grew up on Long Island, New York and came to Florida in 1996 to attend Eckerd College. There she majored in Environmental Science-Policy and fell in love with Florida’s sun, the beaches, and diverse environment. After graduation, she began working at a small private school for children with ADHD and learning disabilities teaching mainly math and science. Within the first few years of teaching, she gained a passion for working with children that learn differently and earned her Master of Arts in Teaching degree in Exceptional Student Education from the University of South Florida. For the next 15 years, she had progressive movement from Teacher’s Aide to Full-Time Teacher to Master Teacher. After the birth of her son, she decided to be a stay at home mother. The Montessori Method had been of interest to her once her niece and nephew began attending The Riverview Montessori School. After a move to Hillsborough County she knew that she wanted her son to attend The Southshore Montessori School. The opportunity arose for her to move from SMS parent to an employee and her love of Montessori continues to grow. Outside of school, she enjoys planting her butterfly and hummingbird gardens, decorating, cooking for friends and family, and playing outside with her son.
